Live: Creating A Romantic Picnic

Photos by Tracie Sullivan

Because sometimes life should be all about the picnic.

So we decided to build a beautiful romantic picnic with vintage clothes, a timeless corvette, French pastries, artisan cheese and a beautiful quilt for newlyweds Sara and Stephen Workman. Thanks to Southern Utah businesses and volunteers we rounded up a dream picnic.

ABOUT THIS PHOTO

Find out where you can get some of these goodies as we reconstruct our date night picnic in the park.

The Clothes: We are kind of loving that dress that reminds us of Marilyn Monroe a la’ beach. Vintage dress, scarf, fedora and sunglasses courtesy of The Wizz in Cedar City at 490 South Main

The Car: That award winning cherry red beauty of a corvette came to us from Barrie Strachan. Who graciously lent us his ’65 Stingray as a backdrop.

The Food:

No romantic picnic is complete without some decadent melt in your mouth treats. We found these amazing treats for an amazing price at the new Cedar Nut and Candy and La Boulangerie Marie in Cedar City located in the perfect location for a take out picnic — located on Main Street right across the street from Main Street Park. Turtle candies, chocolate strawberries, chocolate covered marshmallows and a caramel apple from Cedar Nut & Candy. The Boulangerie or French bakery in the same building offers French pastries like these swan shaped cream puffs, chocolate filled croissants, french bread, brioche and more.

The main dish. We suggest you keep your food gourmet finger food.

This tasty sandwich (and yes we have taste tested it) is the turkey brie and cranberry chutney sandwich served at lunch at the Garden House in Cedar City. Located at 164 South 100 West.

Those melamine plates — perfect for a fancy picnic or outdoor event — are from Target.

No picnic should be without a little cheese. Here Nature Hills Farm paired their famous Red River Sauce jam (a red pepper jam) with their artisan monterey jack cheese. You can find Nature Hills Farm selling their jam and cheese at the Cedar City Farmer’s Market at IFA Saturday morning.

Think outside the box with some sparkling cider that is different than the typical grape or apple flavor. We found this Pear Sparkling Cider at Smith’s

The Quilt: The quilt came from our Applaud Feature this month, Tonya Post a.k.a The Levi Queen. You can read all about her in Applaud.

Now, a perfect summer evening and two people who are in love definitely lent to the ideal setting for our picnic. But we think Sara and Stephen look pretty happy with their date night.
